January 23, 2012
Science club were busy before the Christimas holidays, making Santa air rockets.  They were completed during the hour and were launched down an empty corridor.  The one that flew the furthest and straightest had special side wings designed by a Year 12 student.

Unfortunately the teachers' rocket's sleigh fell off mid-flight.

This week Science club were in the ICT room, researching answers to questions about cleaning products, for their CREST award.

CREST Award planning

Today we started to plan our experiment for the CREST Awards. We are going to investigate some different cleaning products to se how well they get rid of stains.  Different groups decided to investigate:

1.  Effectiveness of removing different types of stain for the same types of product.
2.  Effectiveness of removing stains for cheaper and expensive branded products.
3.  Effectiveness of home made cleaning products.
4.  Whether multi-purpose cleaning products are better value than separate produ...

Today in Science club we decided to use mini solar panels to do experiments on light; we used LED lights. :-)

We had to see wether the solar panels would work by converting light energy to electrical energy.

Different lights give different amounts of energy.

Also we had a bit of plastic and with one end you would put it on a light and you look through the other end.

When you looked through the other end you could see the light even when you bent it.
